BMG Completes J Records Acquisition; Davis Named as Chair of RCA Music Group
- BMG bought out Clive Davis 50% interest in J Records today, naming
Davis the Chairman of a new entity called RCA Music Group according to Marc
Pollack and Roy Trakin of HITS.
Davis is quoted as saying J and RCA will remain as two separate, co-existing
labels. Both have standing orders to promote and market their records vigorously.
Davis was previously a member of the BMG family as the head of Arista Records
before partnering with them to launch J Records in August, 2000. His responsibilities
as Chairman of RCA Music Group will include artist development for both J Records
(which is home to O-Town as well as Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, and Luther Vandross)
and the RCA label.
Changes to the Concert Schedule - There have been a number of changes and
