The Girls Night Out/Boys of Summer Tour made its much anticipated East coast debut at Toms Riverfest in Toms River, NJ last Thursday afternoon. Rain clouds looked somewhat threatening earlier in the day, but soon cleared to blue skies and a bright warm summer sun.

Up and coming artist Justin James took to the Day Stage just after 3:30. His energetic performance quickly got the audience up out of their seats and gathered around the stage where they remained for the rest of the show. At one point he asked for a volunteer from the audience, and brought a young girl, Janine, up onto the stage where he proceeded to serenade her while the crowd cheered!

The next to perform was our main event, Dan Miller! Always the gentleman, Dan greeted the audience by thanking everyone for coming out and standing in the hot sun to hear him perform. He warmed up by playing his guitar and singing his own unique rendition of “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” He referred to himself as “the brand new Dan Miller” and I believe that is a perfect description of what we saw. He smiled and laughed as he explained to the crowd that he came to sing today, not dance! You could see the pride in his eyes and the excitement on his face as he pointed to the concession area and told us all that today was the first day his cd, “Slower Than A Gun”, was available, and you could get it for the bargain price of only $8!
