Trevor Ballin’ On the Courts
March 26th, 2004 - Venice, CA

By Irene Pacheco

On Friday, March 26th I was asked to go watch some friends of mine from a local radio station play in a celebrity basketball game at my old high school, Venice High. As I was greeting them I looked over and saw Trevor taking some practice shots. I got so emotional because I was so shocked to see him. I had not been told what other celebrities were going to be playing so I was speechless when I saw him. I didn’t know whether to jump for joy or cry because the lovely Trevor Penick was right in front of my eyes warming up for the game. So I did both! I called a few of my fellow O-Town sorority sisters from Alpha Sigma O-Town (my sister Carrie being the first, of course) and was going on and on about how excited I was. I could not stop saying ‘Oh My God’ and when I got off the phone, I had tears in my eyes from being so happy.

After Trevor was done with his practice shots, he headed over to the bench to get ready for the game. Not wanting to bother him, I decided to go talk to my friend A-One (on-air personality for L.A.’s 100.3 The Beat), who happened to be sitting right next to Trevor. Although trying to be sly about it, I couldn’t help but say something to Trevor, so when I finished talking to A-One, I tapped Trevor on the shoulder and said, “Hey Trevor, how are you?” Before I could ask if he remembered me, he said, “Oh hey, how are YOU?” Not knowing if he did in fact remember me, I asked him and he replied, “Yeah, of course, how have you been?” I went to shake his hand, but instead Trevor gave me a hug and a lovely kiss on the cheek. It was the sweetest thing when he realized he had just put his sweat all over the right side of my face (which I didn’t mind at all). He laughed and said, “I am so sorry, I’m all sweaty, do you want a towel?” I just smiled and gladly rejected the towel, I mean after all, he did me a favor! Who would want to wipe off Trevor’s sweat after being greeted with a hug and a kiss? Not I! I then asked him if he had time, could we talk after the game and he said, “Of course” and that he would see me later.

During the game, Trevor was ballin’ on the courts like a natural-born NBA Superstar!! Three-pointers, lay-ups, steals, rebounds, you name it, Trevor was in charge! The announcer was giving so much love to Trevor, calling him the star of the show! I think the faculty team he was playing against was getting just a bit frustrated with the fact that Trevor was scarcely missing any shots. Towards the end of the game, Trevor’s teammate “Hollywood” went to suit up in the faculty’s jersey to help them defend against Trevor and Arlen (from “American Dreams”). In the end, the celebrity team had defeated the faculty and students of Venice High School by 4 points.

After the game Trevor headed over to get some water, and at that time I walked over to him and waited for fans to finish taking pictures with him so that I could get a chance to speak with him. He saw me and waited before he walked into the locker room and gave me another hug (this one was definitely had MORE sweat involved and again, I didn’t mind). He asked me what I had been up to, and I told him about being a personal assistant. He asked who I worked for, and I told him actress/model K.D. Aubert (www.kdaubert.com). He said, “Really, that’s good, I see you are moving on up, doing your thing.” I then asked him what he was up to and he pointed to a friend of his standing next to him and said, “I working on a project with this guy, and everything is going really good.” We talked for awhile more and then he excused himself and said “I have to go take a shower before I get out of here, but it was great seeing you and I hope to see you soon.” I told him how I appreciated him taking some time to talk to me and he gave me another hug and said “Anytime sweetie” before going to the locker rooms.

I must say it was an evening to remember. Not only was I surprised with the presence of Mr. Trev, but I was also blessed with the opportunity to speak with him. I contacted Debbie of Inside O-Town in hopes that I could share this story with all of you loyal O-Town fans, and let you know that Trevor is doing well and is in high spirits like always. You can tell how much he will always love his fans and how the love for O-Town will always be in the air. Although he and the other guys of O-Town are venturing off into solo projects, they will always remain O-Town in our hearts and our minds, as they will always remain O-Town in their own souls. Thank you to all the O-Town fans for staying true and for continuing the love that Erik-Michael, Trevor, Dan, Ashley and Jacob have given all of us. I apologize for not being prepared with a camera at the game, but I will definitely make up for it, I promise! Thank you to Trevor for your time (especially the sweaty hugs and kisses), and for putting your ballin’ skills on the court for all your fans to enjoy and cheer for! Can’t wait to hear more about your project! Thank you to Debbie and the rest of the Inside O-Town staff for continuing this site. If it wasn’t for you, all of us fans would be lost. With you, we will never have an O-Town void to fill! Last but not least, I would like to thank my loyal sorority sisters of Alpha Sigma O-Town (O-Town’s First Official Sorority), especially Carrie, Shawna, Jess, Mel, Britt and Cherry Anne. I love you girls so much! Take care to all and God Bless.
