The episode starts off with some performance shots of the guys opening for Britney in Anaheim, CA. In the dressing room after the show, Mike Morin criticizes their dancing, calling it "sloppy". They review the tape of the show on the bus afterwards and laugh at Ashley's high-step across the stage. "That could be my patented move. It's the 'happy dance' - that's my move," says Ashley. Mike Cronin tells them about an Orlando radio contest to win a week with them and show an aspiring singer "what it takes to go on tour". The radio station will pick 5 finalists and will showcase the winner's performance at the end of the week.

The 5 finalists audition in front of the boys, who then disappear into a separate room to compare notes and select a winner. They choose a good-looking blond with spiked hair named J.D. Myers. On Day 1 of J.D.'s week with them, he goes to their house and settles in, then accompanies them to dance rehearsal. On Day 2, in the O-Town kitchen, the boys talk about how girls throw themselves at them. At this point Jacob diplomatically leaves the room. Ashley discusses parental problems with JD On Day 3, in the locker room of the rehearsal building, J.D sings a bit of the song he will perform at the end of the week for the boys and he and Trevor have a blowing contest to see who can keep a piece of paper against the wall the longest - a breathing exercise they were taught in Season 1. JDs boss fires him from his studio animation job over the phone and the guys commiserate with him, but Erik tells him they gave up everything to follow their dream and he is apparently doing the same.

In Boston for a Britney show on Day 4, Britney comes into their dressing room before the show to say hello but JD doesn't get to meet her. After she leaves, Erik arranges for the two to meet just outside their dressing room. JD looks on from front row as the guys perform Sensitive and appear much tighter with their dance moves. Trevor admits afterward he's happy with how they performed. On Day 5, back in Orlando, Dan talks to the Mikes and convinces them to attend JDs performance that night. In the dressing room before the show, the boys give JD a pep talk, then introduce him to the crowd. He performs two songs as the Mikes look on. After the show, they discuss taking him on as a client.
