MTB Episode 5

The episode begins with the boys arriving in their dressing room after a show and complaining about who does what on stage. Eric runs out of the room in mock upset. The rest of the episode takes place at the TRL studios, where the boys will be surprised by a visit from their moms. Trevor explains they’ve devoted an entire show to them and Jacob points out that it’s the first time they’ve been back to TRL since their video was number 1. Ashley reveals that the Mike told them to be ready for a surprise. The host, Hilary, asks how the new season of Making The Band is going. Dan answers that they don’t really think about it too much because they’re so busy. Hilary reveals they’re digging for a lot of dirt on the boys because there’s lot of things even their diehard fans don’t know about them.

Hilary explains they’re going to do a question and answer session, seeing what the boys say and if their moms agree. She then asks the boys a series of questions, including what is Erik’s mom’s least favourite of his fashion statements (red goggles), why Trevor was brought into the world (to introduce his mom Doris to Lionel Richie), what Jacob’s most embarrassing moment on stage was (when his white shirt stuck out from his zipper), what Dan’s most annoying habit is (singing at the top of his lungs around the house), who among his bandmates is the best influence on Ashley (Dan), who was Ashley’s first kiss (a girl named Chelsea in 8th grade), when Erik’s mom realized he was destined to become a rock star (age 4, when he used to sing in the bathtub), whether Trevor’s mom would ever sell any of his stuff on E-Bay (yes, his Fieval doll), what other language Jacob can sing in (Italian).

The moms are then brought out into the studio to surprise the boys. Jacob and his mom are told they are the winners of the contest. Someone asks Jacob’s mom whether he was able to get girls easily in the past. Mechele answers that Jacob wasn’t very interested in girls when he was younger, that he was focused and girls got in his way. Jacob comments that girls were “a distraction.” Ashley’s mom is asked what the biggest adjustment is she’s had to make with O-Town gaining fame. Paula answers the biggest sacrifice she’s had to make is not seeing him very much.
