We were fortunate
enough to attend O-Town's "O2" CD release party at New York's trendy
Lotus club as guests of one of the partygoers. The music was pulsating and
the atmosphere festive as the crowd danced and partied while eagerly anticipating
the arrival of the guests of honor. The boys caused a stir when they entered
the club at 9:15 pm and took the small stage about 45 minutes later to perform
"These Are The Days" and "From The Damage" with their
backing band wedged into the tiny space behind them. They looked and sounded
terrific!
Although
they might have wanted to party all night long, the boys had to call it a night
about midnight in order to be up the next day to make an appearance on "The
Maury Povich Show", which was also attended by some family members. Although
the evening was a wonderful celebration of how far O-Town has come in the past
three years, their writing achievements on "O2" and their polished,
dynamic live performance are hard evidence of just how unlimited their potential
truly is. We know these boys have an exciting road ahead of them, and you can
be sure Inside O-Town will be right there to give you the exclusive details
of their future success!
The boys were in a great mood after winding up a marathon week-long tour to
promote the album at various listening parties across the country - sometimes
hitting three cities in one day! - and in New York, where they also made an
appearance at TRL for the video debut of These Are The Days. If they were exhausted
and jet-lagged, which they must have been, it didn't show in their sparkling
smiles or their excitement over having "O2" finally hit the shelves
earlier that day. The boys are justifiably proud of their second album, having
written or co-written close to half of the songs and told us they can't wait
to get out on tour early next year to perform the new material for their fans.
They graciously did a couple of interviews in the VIP room for Channel 1 and
the
official German website and also
greeted an excited fan and her parents from Los Angeles who had won a contest
and stood next to us during the performance.
The
group celebrated the long-awaited release of their sophomore album with representatives
from J Records, including Clive Davis and Andrew Berkowitz, friends and family
members who had flown in for the occasion, including Jacob's wife Janie, her
mother and sister and his mother Mechele, Dan's parents and grandparents, his
younger brother Kevin, his aunt and his cousin, Trevor's mother Doris and sister
Vanessa and Ashley's brother Taylor and his wife and children. Other notables
included Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott, Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva Amurri
and the group Grand Skeem, who had a hand in co-writing Make Her Say and A Girl
Like That. O-Town's vocal coach, Doc Holliday, was also on hand to proudly watch
the boys' performance.
