Volleypalooza Article

After the sound check was complete I decided to take a walk by the beach. And with that luck I ran into the tour bus, and Trevor. There were a few other fans around, so I hung back so that they could finish up their pictures and autographs. Once the crowd diminished, I was standing around and Trevor came over to me and two other friends. He told me he saw me that morning and was wondering why I didn't come to say hi to him. I had to explain I felt it was his personal time, and he said "Naw, it was cool!" then gave me a hug. We took another picture together, and talked about his golf game.

Then Dan came off the bus, and saw us chilling and came over. He brought Erin with him and was holding her hand...very cute! It was awkward for about one minute, then I said "Erin, I've never really met you before!" and she said it was a pleasure to meet fans and introduced herself. She asked my name, and I said "Candace, but everyone here is calling me Candy" and she and Dan laughed. Then it got quiet again, so I looked at Dan, and said "You're DAN, right?" and we all had another laugh. He reached over and shook my hand to introduce himself again. In mid-handshake he paused, holding my hand and asked "Haven't we met before?" and I said "Yes" with a grin on my face, and he responded "Yeah, Candace....I've seen you a few times!"

I arrived at the Volleypalooza venue early, at about 8:15 a.m. Trevor was hanging out in front of the stage playing basketball and dancing around in the sand. Soon, the sound check began and the guys did great. Jacob was giving it his all, as if it were a real show, even though there was only one fan watching…me! Erik took some time to sit down and practice on the bass guitar. He even took his hat off and I was shocked to realize, "Wow, Erik has SO much hair on his head!" Needless to say, that was soon to change! After the sound check Dan went and shot some hoops with Trevor. Dan finally got five baskets in a row to win a prize when it was time to go. Trevor left empty handed after at least an hour of shooting. (I'm sure it was the sun in his eye!)

After this, I explained to Erin that I'd only seen really BAD pictures of the two of them together on the internet. She agreed, saying "They usually are bad, and just pictures of the back of our heads." We all had a laugh again, with Dan agreeing. So I asked if they'd pose for a GOOD picture, and I'd start circulating that. Looking at each other, they agreed, and posed for my camera. As they posed and I asked "Ready?" they responded "Yes" and smiled, the fans all around let out a resounding "Aw." It was a very sweet moment. Soon after more fans arrived and the guys did some more signing and pictures, it was time to go. The show would be starting soon.
